A part of the Verbena family, the tisane is made from the dried stem and leaves of the plant. Taken to help with insomnia, tension, anxiety, and migraines, it can also be used for skin lotions and be gargled to aid sore gums and mouth ulcers.
Native in Europe and the Americas, the purple flowering vervain plant has been used since Roman times for its supposed health benefits, including supporting the liver, aiding the digestive system and helping to promote sleep. It has also been used by many as a way to decrease anxiety, depression and mood swings.
