A low grade every day tea, picked later in the season, with a high fluoride content making it good for the teeth. A roasted green leaf, brown in colour and with a caramel flavour and aroma.
Any tea hailing from The Orient is going to be something special, and Bancha Houghi Cha is no different.
This delectable Japanese tea (meaning Toasted Tea) has been lightly roasted which, when infused, produces an exquisite light nutty or caramel taste. The leaves of this smooth, high quality tea make a pale yellow colour which all-in-all makes for a tremendously refreshing cup of cha.
Aside from being delicious, Bancha tea also beings other benefits when consumed. Due to the high level of polyphenols, Japanese Bancha tea is an excellent antioxidant. Antioxidants are great because they target and destroy free radicals in the body. Not only that, but the antioxidants present in this tea have been found by the National Centre for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, to help fight or prevent cancerous and other diseased cells in the body.
For the best brew, serve without milk, using water heated to around 75-80c.
