More Information
A blend of Chinese leaf teas, infused with oil from the Bergamot orange, and double processed for extra flavour. Probably the most famous English tea of all, it was named after the Earl who first scented a black Chinese tea with bergamot oil, which is said to help bronchial problems, stomach disorders and headaches. Perfect as an afternoon tea, it can be drunk without milk or lemon.
The story behind Earl Grey goes that the then British Prime Minister, Earl Grey, was given cases of this Chinese tea by as a gift from the Orient during one of his trips there. It is said that he loved it so much he ordered Twinings to attempt to recreate it for him, and now Earl Grey is one of the most drank teas in the world!
It's thought of as a classic English Afternoon tea, but we at FinestCoffee like to enjoy it throughout the whole day! Earl Grey is not a strain of tea itself, but a flavour and a spectacular flavour at that! It is simply made up of Chinese black tea and sweetened with the aromatic and stimulating bergamot oil.
