Product description:
Noted for its smooth flavour and slight fruitiness this coffee is suitable to drink on its own.
Grown at high altitudes of over 1600 metres in plantations ranging from just a few trees to up to 3 hectares, Elimbari coffees are famously smooth and well-rounded, and considered by some to be among the best estate coffees from Papua New Guinea.
Produced by farmers whom we have trained and worked with since 2000, Elimbari is a 100% smallholder coffee grown mostly in Simbu province, where the beans are weighed and pulped at a central facility on the farm before being washed and fermented for 24 hours and dried in the sun.
Growing Typica, Arusha, and Bourbon varietals, Elimbari coffee producers are paid the highest premiums by Kongo Coffee Limited.
Taste: A rich body with citrus, vanilla, caramel and almond flavours, and crisp acidity
From the mountainous Eastern Highlands (Purosa district) where the soil is rich and dark in colour, having volcanic origins, this coffee is produced by traditional methods, the trees have never seen chemical fertilizers, or pesticides. Its chocolate and nut flavour has a distinctive fruity aftertaste.
